- Term: 2011-2012
- House committee: Election Law
- Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
- Subject: Elections
The Story
It was introduced on February 23, 2011 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 17, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-0990s). The committee's amendment (0990s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 23, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 23, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2011. The committee held work sessions on May 17, 2011 and May 24, 2011. The committee met in executive session on May 24, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on September 27, 2011 and October 6, 2011. The committee met in executive session on October 27, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2804h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2804h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 4, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On January 4, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 2, 2012 the Senate adopted “Non-concur with House Amendment #2804h; Requests C of C” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sharon Carson. On May 30, 2012 the House adopted “House Refuses to Accede to Senate Request for C of C (Rep Bates)” on a voice vote.
