The Story
It was introduced on January 19, 2011 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 10, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate send it back to committee. On March 16, 2011 the Senate voted to send it back to committee on a voice vote. The committee held a work session on September 8, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2012-0011s). The committee's amendment (0011s) was adopted on a voice vote on January 18, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On January 18, 2012 the Senate rejected a motion to lay it on the table on a roll call 9–15, on a motion by Sen. Kelly. On January 18, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 8, 2012 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 12, 2012. The committee held work sessions on April 19, 2012 and April 24, 2012. The committee met in executive session on May 8, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee reported: Refer to Interim Study for May 15 unanimously, 13–0. On May 15, 2012 the House adopted “Refer to Interim Study” on a voice vote. The committee held work sessions on June 20, 2012 and June 26, 2012. The committee met in executive session on October 18, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “Not Recommended for Legislation in 2013”, by a vote of 9 to 0.
