The Story

The committee held a public hearing on February 22, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-0492s). The committee's amendment (0492s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 9, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 9, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 23–0 and ordered it to a third reading. It was introduced on March 16, 2011 and referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 29, 2011. The committee met in executive session on May 10, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on June 7, 2011 and September 28, 2011. The committee met in executive session on October 26, 2011 and October 27, 2011. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2644h), and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 16–4. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 11, 2012 the House voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. The bill died on the table when the session ended on June 27, 2012, having been set aside and never taken back up.
