The Story

On September 14, 2011 the House adopted “Rules Suspension to Permit Introduction, Printing, Referral to Committee, Public Hearing and Committee Report (Rep Bettencourt)” on a roll call 260–97. It was introduced on September 14, 2011 and referred to the House Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on September 21, 2011. The committee held work sessions on September 27, 2011, September 28, 2011 and October 5, 2011. The committee met in executive session on October 5, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. On October 12, 2011 the House adopted “Suspend House Rules to Allow Reporting Deadline to be Moved to February 23, 2012” on a voice vote. The committee met in executive session on February 7, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 24–0, to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 15, 2012 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
