HB 628-FN (2012)
relative to searches conducted for purposes of transportation-related security.
- Status: Killed
- Term: 2011-2012
- House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
- Senate committee: Transportation
- Subject: Crimes, Criminal Procedure and Corrections
The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Children and Family Law committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on March 1, 2011. The committee met in executive session on March 9, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on August 2, 2011, August 16, 2011 and August 30, 2011. The committee met in executive session on October 20, 2011 and October 25, 2011. The committee voted 10–6 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2768h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (2768h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 5, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On January 5, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 188–136. It crossed to the Senate on February 8, 2012 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 8, 2012. The committee recommended that the Senate kill it. On April 18, 2012 the Senate voted to kill it on a voice vote.
