  • Status: Died on the table
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Children and Family Law
  • Subject: Domestic Relations

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Children and Family Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 3, 2011. The committee met in executive session on March 7, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 3, 2011, September 14, 2011 and October 19, 2011. The committee met in executive session on October 26, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2728h), by a vote of 11–5. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 4, 2012 the House adopted “Laid on the Table (Rep Jasper)” on a voice vote. On March 28, 2012 the House failed “Remove from the Table (Rep Oligny)” on a division vote 113–167. The bill died on the table when the session ended on June 27, 2012, having been set aside and never taken back up.
