The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2012 and referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 26, 2012. The committee held work sessions on February 16, 2012 and February 21, 2012. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0885h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0885h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 7, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On March 7, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 28, 2012 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held public hearings on April 19, 2012 and April 26, 2012. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2012-1987s). The committee's amendment (1987s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 9, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On May 9, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 30, 2012 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1987s (Rep Daniels)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 6, 2012 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 13, 2012, making it Chapter 215 of the session laws.
