HB 1567 (2012)

establishing a committee to study the federal Youth Corrections Act.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Children and Family Law
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Study Committees and Commissions
  • Chapter law: 92

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2012 and referred to the House Children and Family Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 19, 2012. The committee met in executive session on February 2, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 12–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 15, 2012 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 15, 2012 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 2012. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2012-1278s). The committee's amendment (1278s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 28, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On March 28, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 9, 2012 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1278s (Rep Jasper)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 17, 2012 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 29, 2012, making it Chapter 92 of the session laws.
