HB 1555 (2012)

relative to the penalty for firearm use in a state area for propagation of game controlled by the fish and game department.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Fish and Game and Marine Resources
  • Senate committee: Energy and Natural Resources
  • Subject: Fish & Game
  • Chapter law: 125

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2012 and referred to the House Fish and Game and Marine Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 31, 2012. The committee met in executive session on February 14, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 22, 2012 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 28, 2012 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 26, 2012. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2012-1993s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on May 9, 2012. The committee's amendment (1993s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 9, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On May 9, 2012 the Senate adopted “Without Objection Rule 3-7 is Suspended to Allow Non-Germane Amendment, 2/3 necessary”. On May 9, 2012 the Senate failed “Suspend Rule 3-7 to Allow Non-Germane Amendment” on a roll call 5–18, on a motion by Sen. Larsen. On May 9, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 17, 2012 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1993s (Rep Newton)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 30, 2012 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 5, 2012, making it Chapter 125 of the session laws.
