The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2012 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 19, 2012. The committee held work sessions on January 25, 2012, February 2, 2012, February 10, 2012 and February 13, 2012. On February 15, 2012 the House adopted “Suspend House Rules to Allow Reporting Deadline to be Moved to March 22, 2012” on a voice vote. The committee held work sessions on February 24, 2012, March 12, 2012, March 19, 2012 and March 20, 2012. The committee met in executive session on March 20, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1307h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1307h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 28, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On March 28, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 28, 2012 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 26, 2012. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2012-1990s). The committee's amendment (1990s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 9, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On May 9, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 30, 2012 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1990s (Rep C.McGuire)” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2480e) was adopted on a voice vote on June 6, 2012. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 6, 2012 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2012-2480e) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. It became law without the governor's signature on June 19, 2012, as Chapter 269. The governor neither signed it nor returned it, and the docket records it as enacted under Part II, Article 44 of the state constitution.
