relative to the pre-engineering technology curriculum and pre-engineering technology advisory council and establishing advisory committees for regional vocational education.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Education
  • Senate committee: Education
  • Subject: Education - Finance
  • Chapter law: 223

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2012 and referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2012. The committee met in executive session on February 9, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On March 21, 2012 the House rejected a motion to kill it on a voice vote. A floor amendment (2012-1305h) was adopted on a division vote 329–25 on March 21, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On March 21, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 28, 2012 and was referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2012-2149s). On May 16, 2012 the Senate adopted “Without Objection Rule 3-7 is Suspended to Allow Non-Germane Amendment 2149s, 2/3 necessary”. The committee's amendment (2149s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 16, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On May 16, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 30, 2012 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #2149s(NT) (Rep Balboni)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 6, 2012 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 14, 2012, making it Chapter 223 of the session laws.
