SB 86 (2011)
requiring the department of labor to warn employers of certain violations prior to imposing a fine.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2011-2012
- House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
- Senate committee: Commerce
- Subject: Employment
- Chapter law: 182
The Story
It was introduced on January 19, 2011 and referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-1182s). The committee's amendment (1182s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 30, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 30, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 31, 2011 and was referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2011. The committee met in executive session on May 10, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 13–3 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On May 18, 2011 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2064e) was adopted on May 25, 2011. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2011-2064e) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 14, 2011, making it Chapter 182 of the session laws.
