SB 35-FN-A (2011)

relative to exemption from the definition of utility property for purposes of the utility property tax.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Ways and Means
  • Senate committee: Energy and Natural Resources
  • Subject: Taxes - State
  • Chapter law: 59

The Story

It was introduced on February 3, 2011 and referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 24, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 9, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 16, 2011 and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 29, 2011. The committee met in executive session on April 5, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 13, 2011 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (1448e) was adopted on April 13, 2011. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on April 27, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2011-1448e) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on May 9, 2011, making it Chapter 59 of the session laws.
