SB 22 (2011)

relative to alternative regulation of small incumbent local exchange carriers.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Science, Technology and Energy
  • Senate committee: Energy and Natural Resources
  • Subject: Energy and Utilities
  • Chapter law: 175

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2011 and referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held public hearings on February 3, 2011 and March 17, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-1197s). The committee's amendment (1197s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 30, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 30, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 31, 2011 and was referred to the House Science, Technology and Energy committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 10, 2011. The committee met in executive session on May 17, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 25, 2011 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 14, 2011, making it Chapter 175 of the session laws.
