The Story

A floor amendment (2011-0853s), offered by Sen. White, was adopted on a voice vote on March 16, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 16, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 17, 2011 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 14, 2011. The committee held a work session on April 21, 2011. The committee met in executive session on April 21, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 16–2 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1522h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (1522h) was rejected on a division vote 172–179 on May 4, 2011. On May 4, 2011 the House adopted “Recommit (Rep Hunt)” on a voice vote. The committee held work sessions on May 10, 2011 and May 17, 2011. The committee met in executive session on May 17, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 16–1 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1967h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (1967h) was adopted on a roll call 278–99 on May 25, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On May 25, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 8, 2011 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Prescott. On June 8, 2011 the House adopted “House Accedes to Senate Request for C of C (Rep Hunt)” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 9, 2011 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill.
