  • Status: Became law unsigned
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Finance
  • Senate committee: Finance
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 229

The Story

It was introduced on February 3, 2011 and referred to the Senate Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 17, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 9, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a roll call 22–1 and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 16, 2011 and was referred to the House Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 11, 2011. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1883h), and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 17–7. The report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (1883h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 18, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On May 18, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 257–101. On June 8, 2011 the Senate adopted “Sen. Morse Concurs with House Amendment #1883h” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. It became law without the governor's signature, as Chapter 229. The governor neither signed it nor returned it, and the docket records it as enacted under Part II, Article 44 of the state constitution.
