  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Education
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 20

The Story

It was introduced on January 19, 2011 and referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 8, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-0213s). The committee's amendment (0213s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 16, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On February 16, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 16, 2011 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 22, 2011. The committee voted unanimously, 12–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 30, 2011 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 13, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 25, 2011, making it Chapter 20 of the session laws.
