The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2011 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 18, 2011. The committee met in executive session on February 16, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 12–3 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0084h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (0084h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 2, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 2, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 9, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 24, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-1437s). The committee's amendment (1437s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 20, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On April 20, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 18, 2011 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1437s (Rep Packard)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 1, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 8, 2011, making it Chapter 149 of the session laws.
