The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 2011 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 18, 2011. The committee met in executive session on January 27, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0046h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0046h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 9, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On February 9, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 16, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 29, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-1265s). The committee's amendment (1265s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 13, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On April 13, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 4, 2011 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1265s (Rep Ferrante)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 18, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 27, 2011, making it Chapter 91 of the session laws.
