HB 579 (2011)

exempting department of revenue administration guidelines from the right-to-know law and relative to the position of revenue counsel.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Ways and Means
  • Senate committee: Ways and Means
  • Subject: Taxes - State
  • Chapter law: 173

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 22, 2011. The committee met in executive session on February 24, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 15, 2011 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 23, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 19, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-1583s). The committee's amendment (1583s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 4, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On May 4, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 25, 2011 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1583s(NT) (Rep Stepanek)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 14, 2011, making it Chapter 173 of the session laws.
