The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2011 and referred to the House State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 13, 2011. The committee met in executive session on January 20, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee's amendment (0029h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 9, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On February 9, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 16, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 19, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 27, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 4, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 16, 2011, making it Chapter 61 of the session laws.
