The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 1, 2011. The committee met in executive session on March 2, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. On March 17, 2011 the House rejected a motion to kill it on a roll call 126–210. On March 17, 2011 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 234–101. On March 17, 2011 the House failed “Reconsideration (Rep Comerford)” on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 23, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate kill it. On May 25, 2011 the Senate adopted “that the Senate Rules be Suspended in order to allow HB 540-FN to be reported out of Transportation Committee as the committee acted after the Senate Deadline, 2/3 necessary” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen.
