It crossed to the Senate on March 30, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 21, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 4, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading.
