The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 8, 2011. The committee met in executive session on February 16, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 23, 2011 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 16, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 5, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 11, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 18, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 31, 2011, making it Chapter 109 of the session laws.
