HB 398 (2011)

relative to service animals.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Animals
  • Chapter law: 170

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 22, 2011. The committee met in executive session on March 1, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 12–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0562h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0562h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 15, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 15, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 30, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 3, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 11, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. An enrolled bill amendment (1968e) was adopted on May 25, 2011. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2011-1968e) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 14, 2011, making it Chapter 170 of the session laws.
