HB 313 (2011)

requiring parental consent for court referral of a minor to a juvenile diversion program.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Children and Family Law
  • Senate committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Children
  • Chapter law: 151

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Children and Family Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 10, 2011. The committee met in executive session on February 16, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0354h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0354h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 2, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 2, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 16, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held public hearings on April 21, 2011 and May 5, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 11, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. An enrolled bill amendment (1955e) was adopted on May 25, 2011. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 1, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2011-1955e) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 8, 2011, making it Chapter 151 of the session laws.
