  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Judiciary
  • Senate committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Miscellaneous

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 24, 2011. The committee met in executive session on March 1, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 15, 2011 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 23, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 12, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate kill it. On May 25, 2011 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Luther. The bill died on the table when the session ended on September 7, 2011, having been set aside and never taken back up.
