The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 3, 2011. The committee met in executive session on February 28, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0521h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0521h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 15, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 15, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 30, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 28, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-1770s). The committee's amendment (1770s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 11, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On May 11, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 25, 2011 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1770s (Rep Ferrante)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 14, 2011, making it Chapter 164 of the session laws.
