  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Public and Mental Health
  • Chapter law: 209

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 2011. The committee held work sessions on February 8, 2011, February 15, 2011 and February 16, 2011. The committee met in executive session on March 1, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0505h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0505h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 15, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 15, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 23, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 31, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 13, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-2042s). The committee's amendment (2042s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 25, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On May 25, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 1, 2011 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM 2042s (Rep Reagan)” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2011-2304e) was adopted on June 8, 2011. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2304e) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 27, 2011, making it Chapter 209 of the session laws.
