HB 155 (2011)

relative to permits to conduct raffles.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 94

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 2011. The committee met in executive session on January 27, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 12–4. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On February 9, 2011 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 16, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held public hearings on March 22, 2011 and March 29, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-1266s). The committee's amendment (1266s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 13, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On April 13, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 4, 2011 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1266s (Rep Ferrante)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 18, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 27, 2011, making it Chapter 94 of the session laws.
