The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2011 and referred to the House State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 27, 2011. The committee held work sessions on February 2, 2011 and February 9, 2011. The committee met in executive session on February 15, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 11–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0260h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0260h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 23, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On February 23, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 16, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2011-1416s). The committee's amendment (1416s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 20, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On April 20, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 4, 2011 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1416s (Rep Baldasaro)” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (1794e) was adopted on May 18, 2011. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 25, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2011-1794e) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 6, 2011, making it Chapter 127 of the session laws.
