  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Legislative Administration
  • Senate committee: Internal Affairs

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2011 and referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 18, 2011. The committee held work sessions on February 1, 2011, February 8, 2011 and February 22, 2011. The committee met in executive session on March 1, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0455h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0455h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 15, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 15, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 27, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 4, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 11, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 18, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 31, 2011, making it Chapter 104 of the session laws.
