HB 106 (2011)

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Election Law
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Elections
  • Chapter law: 40

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2011 and referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 18, 2011. The committee met in executive session on February 22, 2011 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0241h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0241h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 2, 2011, changing the text of the bill. On March 2, 2011 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 16, 2011 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 29, 2011. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 13, 2011 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 27, 2011 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 9, 2011, making it Chapter 40 of the session laws.
