SB 79 (2010)

relative to the compensation of game operators.

  • Status: Killed
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Local and Regulated Revenues
  • Senate committee: Ways and Means
  • Subject: Gambling

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held public hearings on January 27, 2009 and February 10, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On February 18, 2009 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Odell. On February 18, 2009 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Hassan. The committee's amendment (0285s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 18, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On February 18, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 4, 2009 and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Local and Regulated Revenues committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 22, 2009. The committee met in executive session on April 29, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 13, 2009 and May 21, 2009. The committee met in executive session on November 18, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House kill it. On January 6, 2010 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
