- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2009-2010
- House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs

The Story
It was introduced on March 10, 2010 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 16, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1052s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2010. The committee held work sessions on April 15, 2010 and May 4, 2010. The committee met in executive session on May 4, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1774h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1774h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 12, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On May 12, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Sgambati Concurs with House Amendment 1774h, NT” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2160) was adopted on May 19, 2010. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2160) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 20, 2010, making it Chapter 359 of the session laws.
