The Story
It was introduced on March 3, 2010 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 16, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1118s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 13, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 27, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1645h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1645h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 5, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On May 5, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Cilley Concurs with House Amendment 1645h, NT” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2150) was adopted on May 19, 2010. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2150) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 20, 2010, making it Chapter 358 of the session laws.
