  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 198

The Story

It was introduced on February 17, 2010 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 16, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 17, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 18, 2010 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 13, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it (amendment 1312h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1312h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 21, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 21, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. On May 13, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Sgambati Concurs with House Amendment 1312h, NT” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 19, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 21, 2010, making it Chapter 198 of the session laws.
