SB 477 (2010)

relative to driver education school applicants.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Transportation
  • Senate committee: Transportation and Interstate Cooperation
  • Subject: Motor Vehicles
  • Chapter law: 168

The Story

It was introduced on January 21, 2010 and referred to the Senate Transportation and Interstate Cooperation committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 11, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0665s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 17, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On February 17, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 17, 2010 and was referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 20, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 10–2. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On April 28, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 225–115. The bill was enrolled on May 12, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1851) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 17, 2010, making it Chapter 168 of the session laws.
