The Story

The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1131s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the House Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 13, 2010. The committee held work sessions on April 22, 2010, April 26, 2010 and April 27, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 27, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The minority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1747h). A floor amendment (1636h) was adopted on a division vote 195–144 on May 5, 2010, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (1838h) was rejected on a roll call 131–208 on May 5, 2010. On May 5, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a division vote 199–141. On May 13, 2010 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. D'Allesandro. On May 19, 2010 the House adopted “House Refuses to Accede to Req for C of C (Rep M.Smith)” on a roll call 170–118.
