SB 435 (2010)

relative to the provision of caller locations in emergency situations.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
  • Senate committee: Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 314

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 8, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0927s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 17, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 17, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 30, 2010. The committee held work sessions on April 13, 2010 and May 4, 2010. The committee met in executive session on May 4, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1327h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on May 12, 2010. The committee's amendment (1327h) was rejected on a voice vote on May 13, 2010. A floor amendment (2019h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 13, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On May 13, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Hassan Concurs with House Amendment 2019h” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2360) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 13, 2010, making it Chapter 314 of the session laws.
