The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 9, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0587s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 17, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On February 17, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 17, 2010 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 16, 2010. The committee held work sessions on March 23, 2010, April 1, 2010, April 6, 2010, April 13, 2010 and April 20, 2010. The committee met in executive session on May 4, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1665h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1665h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 12, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On May 12, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Sgambati Concurs with House Amendment 1665h, NT” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 6, 2010, making it Chapter 268 of the session laws.
