The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held public hearings on March 8, 2010 and March 18, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1121s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 15, 2010. The committee held work sessions on April 20, 2010 and April 22, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 22, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1537h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1537h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 5, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On May 5, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Hassan Concurs with House Amendment 1537h” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 20, 2010, making it Chapter 349 of the session laws.
