The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 2, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0964s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 17, 2010, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (1072s), offered by Sen. Reynolds, was adopted on a voice vote on March 17, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 17, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 18, 2010 and was referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 30, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 20, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 28, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 12, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 1, 2010, making it Chapter 116 of the session laws.
