The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 9, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 17, 2010 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Hassan. On February 17, 2010 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sgambati. A floor amendment (0775s), offered by Sen. Sgambati, was adopted on a voice vote on February 17, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On February 17, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 17, 2010 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 23, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 6, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 15–2 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 14, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 21, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 18, 2010, making it Chapter 43 of the session laws.
