SB 405 (2010)

relative to grounds for revocation of a school bus driver’s certificate and relative to interference with traffic signaling devices.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Transportation
  • Senate committee: Transportation and Interstate Cooperation
  • Subject: Motor Vehicles
  • Chapter law: 221

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Transportation and Interstate Cooperation committee. The committee held public hearings on January 20, 2010, February 4, 2010 and February 18, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 3, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 11, 2010 and was referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 20, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 12–1 to recommend that the House pass it (amendment 1316h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on April 28, 2010. The committee's amendment (1316h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 28, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 28, 2010 the House failed “Lay on the Table (Rep Wendelboe)” on a division vote 133–199. On April 28, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a division vote 210–122. On May 13, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Letourneau Concurs with House Amendment 1316h, NT” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2106) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 28, 2010, making it Chapter 221 of the session laws.
