SB 404 (2010)

relative to towing and disposal of abandoned vehicles.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Transportation
  • Senate committee: Transportation and Interstate Cooperation
  • Subject: Motor Vehicles
  • Chapter law: 344

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Transportation and Interstate Cooperation committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 4, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0664s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 17, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On February 17, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 17, 2010 and was referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2010. The committee held a work session on April 13, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 20, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1404h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1404h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 28, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 28, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Letourneau Concurs with House Amendment 1404h” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2341) was adopted on May 19, 2010. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2341) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 20, 2010, making it Chapter 344 of the session laws.
