The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 19, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0336s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 3, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On February 3, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 17, 2010 and was referred to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 30, 2010. The committee held a work session on April 6, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 8, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1263h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on April 21, 2010. The committee's amendment (1263h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 21, 2010, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (1519h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 21, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 21, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Reynolds Concurs with House Amendments 1263h, 1519h” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2199) was adopted on May 19, 2010. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2199) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 13, 2010, making it Chapter 312 of the session laws.
