The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 9, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 3, 2010 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Cilley. On March 24, 2010 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Houde. A floor amendment (0934s), offered by Sen. Houde, was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 24–0 and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 15, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 22, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1693h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1693h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 5, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On May 5, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 13, 2010 the Senate adopted “Sen. Hassan Concurs with House Amendment 1693h” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 19, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 22, 2010, making it Chapter 204 of the session laws.
