relative to economic revitalization zone tax credits.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Ways and Means
  • Senate committee: Ways and Means
  • Subject: Taxes - State
  • Chapter law: 311

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 26, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0891s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 10, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 10, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 17, 2010 and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 30, 2010. The committee held work sessions on April 7, 2010, April 14, 2010 and April 22, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 22, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The minority of the committee recommended that the House pass it. A floor amendment (1491h) was adopted on a roll call 174–167 on May 5, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On May 5, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a division vote 245–101. On May 5, 2010 the House failed “Reconsideration (Rep Vaillancourt)” on a division vote 133–200. On May 19, 2010 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Odell. On May 19, 2010 the House adopted “House Accedes to Request for Comm of Conf (Rep Hess)” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on May 24, 2010 and May 25, 2010 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2416) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 13, 2010, making it Chapter 311 of the session laws.
