SB 367 (2010)

relative to games of chance.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Local and Regulated Revenues
  • Senate committee: Ways and Means
  • Subject: Gambling
  • Chapter law: 190

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 26, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0767s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 3, 2010, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (0877s), offered by Sen. Odell, was adopted on a voice vote on March 3, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 3, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 11, 2010 and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Local and Regulated Revenues committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 20, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 27, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On May 5, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (1973) was adopted on May 12, 2010. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 19, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1973) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 21, 2010, making it Chapter 190 of the session laws.
